Title - A Comprehensive Analysis on The Assessment of Knowledge Regarding Various Patient Safety Measures Among Staff Nurses of Selected Hospitals of Gurugram, Haryana

| Abstract | ABSTRACT Introduction: An area of study called patient safety focuses on preventing situations that might endanger patients. Preventing, reducing, reporting, and analyzing mistakes are the main focuses of patient safety beginning in the last years of the 20th century, the modern patient safety movement has grown during the first two decades of the new century. The growing complexity of the healthcare system led to the development of the medical specialty known as patient safety. Objective: To assess the level of knowledge regarding various patient safety measures among the staff nurses and their association with selected demographical variables of staff nurses at selected hospitals of Gurugram. Methodology: This quantitative descriptive study evaluated the knowledge of 150 staff nurses in Gurugram, Haryana, on selected patient safety measures, using a validated and reliable self-structured questionnaire. Data were collected in June 2022 after a pilot study, with ethical approval and informed consent. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze knowledge levels and associations between variables Result: Of 150 participants, most (107; 71.3%) had moderately adequate knowledge of patient safety measures, followed by 38 (25.3%) with inadequate and 5 (3.3%) with adequate knowledge. Chi-square tests, with and without Yates’ correction, showed no significant associations between knowledge level and age, education, work experience, or in-service training (all p > 0.05). |
