| Abstract | This study examines the socio-economic challenges faced by unorganized goldsmiths in Madurai City, focusing on their working conditions, health risks, and financial constraints. Many of these artisans struggle with outdated techniques, limited market access, and insufficient financial support. The research assesses the impact of government schemes, explores opportunities for technological advancement, financial inclusion, and market expansion, and evaluates ways to preserve their craft while improving livelihoods. Primary data was collected through questionnaire from 121 goldsmiths, supported by secondary sources. The findings align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals such as poverty reduction, decent work, reduced inequality, and sustainable production, offering actionable solutions to enhance the welfare and sustainability of traditional goldsmiths. |
