| Abstract | Jurimetrics, which commonly refers to the use of statistical, quantitative, empirical, or mixed methods approaches in legal research, is now an essential tool for modern law scholarship. Jurimetrics applications now have broad implications for predictive analytics and modeling judicial outcomes and behavior and provide methods to systematically make decisions. This article outlines what jurimetrics means and what the concept of jurimetrics is, and the importance of jurimetrics to the study and practice of law. The article also focuses on how jurimetrics connects to the legal context and offers a means to study the law in ways that challenge and problematize traditional forms of inquiry and legal research. The Indian judiciary epitomizes the challenges associated with contemporary justice with significant and troublesome backlogs, delays, and inconsistencies with rulings or adjudication that require innovative solutions; using jurimetrics would allow for analysis of the judicial behaviour and also provide metrics related to effectiveness and recognize consistencies or patterns. The recent rise of AI-related jurimetrics models has raised important legal and ethical considerations regarding data privacy, algorithmic biases, accountability and implicit threats to the independence of decision-makers. This article has conducted a thorough examination of how jurimetrics could be effectively employed, along with specific suggestions on ethical and institutional applications of jurimetrics, and argues that jurimetrics could have the potential to fundamentally enhance legal research and support the Indian Judiciary. The conclusion emphasizes that jurimetrics is not a replacement for an established jurisprudence, but rather a sister discipline that has the potential to be allied with AI and, in doing so, could restructure a just, rational, inclusive, and impartial justice system. |
