| Abstract | Digital payment systems, fueled by innovations such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile wallets, and Aadhaar-enabled payment services, have transformed India’s financial ecosystem. These platforms have expanded access to financial services, bridging gaps in inclusion and promoting cashless transactions. However, issues of cybersecurity, digital literacy, and regulatory oversight remain pressing challenges. This study, based on survey data from 150 retail users across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, examines the drivers, barriers, and behavioral patterns in adopting digital payments. Findings reveal that convenience, speed, and government incentives strongly influence adoption, while concerns over fraud and lack of awareness among rural users act as barriers. The results underscore the dual need for robust policy interventions and targeted digital literacy campaigns to maximize the socio-economic benefits of digital payments. |
