Author(s) Mr. Vikram Bilwal, Dr. Anjana Pandey
Country India
Abstract The novel Eight Months on Ghazzah Street by Hilary Mantel is thoroughly examined in this research paper, with an emphasis on the complex processes of cultural interchange, identity formation, and relocation within the framework of East-West interactions. With Saudi Arabia's unique cultural setting as its background, the book provides a detailed depiction of the difficulties and complexity faced by Western expats navigating the nation's strict social standards, Islamic regulations, and strange cultural customs. By closely examining the book, this paper explores the conflicts between Islamic and Western cultures, illuminating the power structures that influence Saudi-Western interactions. In order to get a deeper understanding of the work and its reflection on cultural interchange and interaction, the study highlights the intricacies of cultural identity, the problems of traversing different cultural identities, and the difficulties of adapting to new cultural surroundings.
Keywords Hilary Mantel, Eight Months on Ghazzah Street, cultural exchange, identity, displacement, East-West relations, power dynamics, postcolonial literature, Orientalism, Saudi Arabian culture.
