Abstract Abstract
There are a number of factors that have great impact on academic achievement. These factors can be grouped as cognitive factors, personal factors, and environmental factors, etc. Family climate is an example of psycho-socio environmental factors. Family in which a child is brought up plays a significant role in his life. It is the family, which establishes the pattern for child’s attitude towards people and society, aids intellectual growth in the child and supports his aspirations and achievements (Coleman, 1974). The present study was undertaken to find out the relationship between family climate and academic achievement of secondary school students of Khowang Development Block of Dibrugarh district in Assam state. A total sample of 515 were selected by using purposive sampling technique. Data regarding the perceptions of secondary school students on their family climate were collected by using standardized tool, i. e., Family Climate Scale (Dr. Beena Shah, 2001). For academic achievement, the marks obtained by the students at class 9 annual examination in 2023 were procured from the office of the schools. The data was analysed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, product-moment co-efficient, critical ratio etc. The result revealed that there is a high positive impact of family climate on academic achievement of the students.
