Assess the knowledge regarding Basic life support among college students in selected colleges at Madurai

Abstract Objectives : To assess the level of knowledge on basic life support among arts college students in selected arts college in Madurai. To associate the level of knowledge regarding BLS among selected arts college students in Madurai with their selected demographic variables Hypothesis: There is a significant association between the knowledge of basic life support among arts college students with their selected demographic characteristics Conceptual Framework : . Modified system theory (1968) has adopted for viewing people as interacting with environment Methodology: Non experimental research design was used. 50 subjects selected by Non- probability (purposive) sampling technique. Setting : American arts college at Madurai. Findings: Among 50 samples, majority of the subjects 42 (84%) were having below average level of knowledge about BLS, 8 (16%) were having average level of knowledge about BLS. No one is having above average level of knowledge about BLS. Conclusion: The study concluded that majority of the students 42(84%) were having below average level of knowledge. Demographic variable had shown that statistically no significant association between the level of knowledge on BLS among college students. So the arts college students needed BLS class. Basic Life support is a life-saving skill that anyone can learn. With timely CPR and use of an AED, we can increase survival chances and make a real difference in emergencies. Every second counts, and every trained person can be a life saver.
