Author(s) Lalrinngheta, Dr. Rosaline Varsangzuali, H. Lalawmpuii
Country India
Abstract This paper delves into the legendary Mizo history of Thawmvunga, analyzing how his fearless defiance and sense of honour reflect the foundational values of Mizo identity. Centered around the traditional warrior ethos (pasaltha) and the moral code of tlawmngaihna, the study interprets Thawmvunga’s actions as a cultural expression of courage, loyalty, and communal responsibility. By situating the narrative within Mizo oral tradition and social structure, the paper demonstrates how heroism and honour continue to shape the collective consciousness and identity of the Mizo people.
Keywords Thawmvunga, Mizo identity, heroism, tlawmngaihna, pasaltha, oral tradition.
