Abstract Work life balance is a penetrating challenge for the unorganized sector workers influencing the overall well being and productivity of the laborer. This study investigates the intricate dimensions and complex realities of work-life balance of the employees in the unorganized sectors of Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. Adopting a mixed-method approach the study surveyed multiple respondents across sectors like agriculture, textiles, hotels, constructions and department stores. Data was collected by conducting in depth interviews while examining the factors which influence work life balance in employees of unorganized sectors. Key findings state that 60.9% of workers report an imbalanced work life balance with agriculture (75.0%) and construction (37.5%) states highest imbalance due to long work hours, irregular schedule, minimum wages and job insecurity. Department stores(33.3%) and hotels ((27.3%) report better WLB with flexible schedules and timely pay. Female workers face greater stress in balancing household responsibilities and work life compared to males. The finding recommends certain modifications in the policies like flexible work arrangements, improved workplace safety and child support. The research emphasizes the need of integrating informal laborers into constitutional frameworks to uphold human dignity and sustainable development across sectors and regions.
