| Abstract | Abstract This study examines the impact of Kolkata's cuisine on destination attractiveness from the perspective of Guwahati's youth. Cuisine is a crucial aspect of a destination's image, and its influence on attractiveness can significantly shape tourist decisions. The research focuses on how Guwahati's youth perceive Kolkata's cuisine and its role in making the city an attractive tourist destination. A quantitative and qualitative approach was employed, surveying young respondents from Guwahati to assess their perceptions of Kolkata's cuisine, including its functional value (taste, quality), social value (sharing experiences), emotional value (nostalgia), cultural value (learning about local traditions), and nutritional value. The study also investigates the relationship between these perceived values and the overall attractiveness of Kolkata as a tourist destination. Key findings indicate that Guwahati's youth highly value Kolkata's cuisine, particularly its functional, social, and cultural values. The results also reveal a significant positive correlation between these perceived values and the overall attractiveness of Kolkata as a tourist destination. The study's insights can inform tourism marketers and stakeholders in Kolkata, helping them leverage the city's culinary heritage to enhance its appeal to young tourists from Guwahati and potentially other Northeast Indian destinations. By highlighting the unique aspects of Kolkata's cuisine, tourism promoters can create targeted marketing strategies to attract more youth tourists and foster a more vibrant tourism industry. |
