| Abstract | This article acknowledges and appreciates the previous work entitled “The Geostrategic Significance of Tanzania in the Great Lakes Region: A security Concern,” which was published in the international journal for Multidisciplinary Research (IJMR), volume 7, issue 4, July – August 2025. And builds upon and expands that foundation, offering a broader analysis within a different contextual framework. Therefore, it analyzes the strategic implications of Tanzania’s regional engagement, focusing on its roles in conflict mediation, peacekeeping, border security, maritime governance, and counterterrorism. It also critically assesses policy gaps such as weak institutional coordination, inadequate border management, insufficient maritime security infrastructure, and the lack of a comprehensive counterterrorism strategy. The article concludes by offering policy recommendations to enhance Tanzania’s security posture, including the establishment of a National Security Council, integration of human security into national policy, and deeper engagement in regional security frameworks. Ultimately, Tanzania’s stability and proactive diplomacy are pivotal not only for its national security but for the broader peace and development trajectory of the Great Lakes Region. |
