Abstract The internet is an integral part of today’s life; therefore, the risk of internet addiction isvery high. The current consequences of internet addiction are not comparable to those ofother types of addiction .However; internet addiction may be a serious problem in the future. For this reason, this issue should be addressed today. The primary objective of the study wasto assess the differences in internet addiction between males and females in a sample of UGstudents in the Cuttack city. Differences were assessed in the total internet addiction score. Aquestionnaire of online survey was conducted in 2025. The objective of the study was manlyachieved by using the parametric t-test. The sample was selected in the form of a stratifiedrandom sampling and consists of 40 responses, out of which 20 were male and 20 werefemale. Data obtained using the standardized IAT scale was included in the analysis. Theoverall internet addictions were found by using statistical techniques like mean, standarddeviation and t-test. Significant difference were identified at the 0.05 significant level byrejecting null hypothesis as the calculated value is greater than the tabulated value , whichindicated male students have a higher internet addiction . So internet addiction in high-riskpopulation should be systematically monitored. The internet addiction of young adults maybe a serious problem in the near future, more studies should be done in cross-cultural contextand also studies must be there to address those issues
