Abstract The investigator conducted study on "effect of self instructional module regarding placental stem cell utilization in terms of knowledge among staff nurses in a selected hospital, Kolkata" With the aim to assess the effect of self instructional module regarding placental cell utilization in terms of knowledge among staff nurse.
They have selected 40 staff nurses from a hospital in Kolkata by non probability convenient sampling technique. They collected the data by using a tool of demographic proforma and semi structured and structured knowledge questionnaire. Tools were valid and reliable. Try out showed that the study was feasible and practicable. The findings of the study showed that maximum staffs (72.5%) belong to the age group of 20-25 years. Maximum number (67.5%) of staffs had satisfactory knowledge about placental stem cell utilization
There is no significant association between between knowledge level and age as the chi square value x^2(4.25)=P>0.05,no association between knowledge level and education level as the chi square value x^2(0.0649)=P>0.05,no association between knowledge level and working experience as the chi square value x^2(2.03)=P>0.05 respectively.
The findings of the study how implications on nursing education and nursing research.
Paired 't'test value of post-test knowledge score at t(39) was 11.12 which was greater than the table value t(39) 0.023 at 0.05 level of significance . So, it could be concluded that self- instructional module was helpful to increase the knowledge of the staff nurses regarding placental stem cell utilization.
