Abstract This research paper examines the trends, growth, and composition of public expenditure in the state of Haryana, India from 2000 to 2023. The study analyzes various components of public expenditure, including developmental and non-developmental expenditure, revenue and capital expenditure, and sector-wise allocations. Using data from government sources, the paper employs statistical techniques to identify patterns and shifts in spending priorities over the 23-year period. Key findings include a significant increase in overall public expenditure, changes in the relative proportions of different expenditure categories, and evolving sectoral priorities. The research provides insights into Haryana's fiscal policies and development strategies, with implications for policymakers and researchers studying public finance in emerging economies.
