| Abstract | All Quiet on the Western front” is a 1930 movie directed by Lewis Milestone. This movie is adapted from Eric Maria Remarque's book All Quiet on the Western Front written in 1928. With the vivid narrative and remarkable direction this audio visual had an astonishing effect on the audiences. This research paper studies the sense of homelessness and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by the war between Germany and France with the backdrop of World War 1. This further explores the theme of negative cognitive schémas, a concept that was mentioned by Aaron T. Beck in 1967, experienced by the ones who were there in the battlefield. This further delves into the study of how War takes away Paul Bäumer’s basic concept of self and home and how the whole experience leaves him filled with trauma, so much so that without the War zone he cannot recognise himself anymore. |
