| Abstract | In today’s digital age, cybersecurity has become an essential concern across all sectors of society. While urban regions are gradually adopting secure digital practices, rural areas—particularly in Punjab—face significant challenges due to limited awareness, lack of resources, and growing exposure to online risks. This paper explores the current level of cybersecurity awareness among rural youth in Punjab, examines the challenges they encounter, and highlights opportunities for improvement. It also evaluates the role of government schemes such as Digital India and the Cyber Swachhta Kendra, along with helpline initiatives like the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (155260), in promoting safer online practices. The study emphasizes the importance of capacity-building programs, digital literacy workshops, and institutional interventions to bridge the awareness gap. National College of IT, Muktsar, contributes as an implementing agency by conducting awareness drives for students and surrounding communities, thereby fostering a step-by-step process of safe and informed digital adoption. |
