Quality of Work Life and Career Development of Employees of Layod's Travel and Tours: Basis for a Proposed Human Resource Management Plan

Abstract This quantitative study aimed to determine the level of quality of work life and the extent of career development of the employees of Layod’s Travel and Tours. Utilizing a descriptive correlational research design, the study employed a researcher-made questionnaire. The data were collected from 48 respondents from four distinct areas such as admin section, reservation section, sales and marketing and transportation information assistant and tour coordinators using a stratified sampling technique upon conducting the study. Findings revealed a high level of perception in all dimensions of their quality of work life and extensive in all the aspects of their career development. With regard to their quality of work life a statistically significant difference shown in the job security of the respondents based on age and civil status, constitutionalism in the workplace based on their educational attainment and opportunity for growth and advancement based on their job position. In terms of career development only career opportunities shown as statistically significant. The findings also revealed a strong positive correlation in terms of work role while weak positive correlation was noted for constitutionalism in the workplace to their career development. A human resource management plan was then proposed based on the findings.
