| Abstract | Abstract: Wellbeing plays a crucial and multifaceted role in academic achievement, as it directly affects students’ ability to engage, perform, and thrive within educational environments. When students experience high levels of wellbeing—encompassing emotional, psychological, and physical health—they are more likely to demonstrate increased motivation, resilience, and focus, which are essential for effective learning and academic success. Emotional wellbeing, such as feeling safe, supported, and confident, allows students to participate actively in classroom activities, take intellectual risks, and persevere through challenges. Wellbeing encourages a growth mind-set, where students view challenges as opportunities to learn rather than as threats to their self-worth, leading to greater perseverance and academic resilience. When students feel valued and understood by teachers, they are more likely to seek help when needed and participate fully in the learning process. In contrast, poor wellbeing can result in absenteeism, disengagement, and behavioural issues, which interfere with the learning process and reduce academic outcomes. Schools that implement wellbeing programs, such as mindfulness, emotional intelligence training, and recreational activities, often report improved student performance, enhanced concentration, and reduced behavioural problems. This study attempts to explore the influence of wellbeing on academic performance of higher secondary students. |
