Title: Knowledge and attitude towards organ donation among arts college students at selected Arts College in Madurai. Objectives: To determine the level of knowledge and attitude towards organ donation. To correlate knowledge and attitude towards organ donation. To associate the level of knowledge and attitude towards organ donation among students with their selected socio-demographic variables. Hypotheses: H1: There will be a significant correlation between knowledge and attitude towards organ donation. H2: There will be a significant association between the level of knowledge and attitude with their selected demographic variables. Methodology: Non-experimental descriptive design was used. 40 subjects selected by purposive sampling technique. Findings: Majority of the students 32 [80%] having average knowledge, 7 [17.5%] having above average and only one student is having below average knowledge. Majority of them 34 [85%] having positive attitude and 6 [15%] having negative attitude towards organ donation. Conclusion: The study findings revealed that majority of the subjects were having the average level of knowledge and positive attitudes towards the organ donation. There is a statistically significant positive correlation between knowledge and attitude score. Chi-square analysis reveals that the mother’s educational qualification (χ² (8, 40) = 19.45, p = 0.01 i.e. < 0.05) was significantly associated with the level of knowledge towards organ donation among students. |
