Corporate Conscience, Corporate Sustainability Practices, Environment Responsibility in a Retail Company in Sichuan Province, China

Author(s) Chen Hua, Lorenzo Lorenzo

Abstract This study examined the relationship between corporate conscience, corporate sustainability practices, and environmental responsibility among business executives. Using a quantitative-correlational research design, data were gathered through a structured survey and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation tests. The results of the correlation analysis indicated a statistically significant positive relationship between corporate atmosphere and sustainability practices, particularly linking moral and practical conscience with governance disclosure and stakeholder dimensions. Nevertheless, the relationship between corporate conscience and environmental responsibility was not significant, with selective negative correlations suggesting that legal and ethical conservatism may inhibit risk taking and innovation. This finding suggests that conscience-driven leadership provides for sustainable governance and accountability without necessarily producing transformable environmental practice outcomes.
