Management Information System, Competence, and Agility in a Food Business Industry in Sichuan Province, China

Abstract	This study examined the correlation between the implementation of Management Information Systems (MIS) and business performance indicators—specifically business competence and business agility—in a food manufacturing industry in Sichuan Province, China. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study analyzed responses from selected managerial and supervisory personnel to assess how different MIS dimensions—such as system efficiency, data accuracy, integration, security, adaptability, and user support—affect key areas of business competence (entrepreneurial, managerial, operational, technological, market, financial, and social) and business agility (operational, market, digital, supply chain, innovation, and human resource). The results revealed that MIS implementation is significantly correlated with both business competence and agility. System efficiency and performance showed consistent significant correlations with multiple components, particularly managerial, market, and social competence, as well as operational, market, and digital agility.
