From Corporations to Campaigns: Tracing Capitalism’s Path in Indian Politics

Author(s) Dr. Aftabuddin Ahammad
Country India
Abstract The interplay between capitalism and politics has been a defining feature of India’s evolving democracy. From the rise of corporations as economic powerhouses to their significant influence on electoral campaigns, capitalism has reshaped the political landscape of the country. This study examines the trajectory of capitalism's integration into Indian politics, focusing on how corporate funding has become a cornerstone of political campaigns. It highlights the regulatory frameworks, their limitations, and the socio-economic disparities exacerbated by the capitalist approach. Furthermore, the paper explores the ethical dilemmas posed by the growing nexus between wealth and power, addressing questions about transparency, accountability, and the erosion of public trust. By delving into case studies and statistical trends, the analysis unveils the transformative yet contentious role capitalism plays in shaping policies, political agendas, and democratic processes in India.
