| Abstract | This study examines the penetration of digital banking services and their impact on rural market development in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Using a mixed-methods approach combining primary survey data from 450 rural households and secondary data from banking institutions, this research analyzes the adoption patterns, barriers, and developmental outcomes of digital banking initiatives from 2018 to 2022. The findings reveal that digital banking penetration in Guntur District increased from 23% in 2018 to 67% in 2022, driven primarily by government initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana and the COVID-19 pandemic's acceleration of digital adoption. Key barriers include limited digital literacy (affecting 45% of respondents), poor network connectivity in remote villages (38% reporting frequent disruptions), and trust issues with digital transactions (32% expressing concerns). The study demonstrates that increased digital banking access correlates positively with rural entrepreneurship development, agricultural productivity improvements, and financial inclusion metrics. However, significant disparities exist across age groups, gender, and geographic locations within the district. |
