| Abstract | Sustainable industrial development is increasingly recognized as essential for achieving long-term economic, environmental, and social well-being. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a pivotal role in this transformation due to their decentralized operations, employment generation capacity, and adaptability to green practices. This study examines the contribution of MSMEs to sustainable industrial development, with a focused case study on Chamarajnagar district in Karnataka. The district, despite facing challenges like drought, limited industrialization, and outward migration, hosts a vibrant MSME sector-especially in textiles, agro-processing, sericulture, and granite-based industries. Government schemes, infrastructure projects like the Badanaguppe-Kellamballi Industrial Estate, and financial institutions have begun to shape a supportive ecosystem for sustainable MSME growth. The findings underscore that enabling policy support, technological upgrades, and improved market access are critical to unlocking the full potential of MSMEs in fostering inclusive and environmentally conscious industrial development. |
