From IT Act to Data Protection: A Comparative Socio-Technological Study of India’s Response to Cybercrime

Abstract This study is to look to at how the India has responded the cybercrime by comparing to the old IT Act with the new DPDP Act 2023.It uses the way of looking at things that combines society and technology to understand how laws, technology and people work together to deals with cyber threats. The study also comparers India’s strategy to global norms as the EU’s GDPR, highlighting the challenges and opportunities of striking the balance between personal rights, safety and innovation. By looking at laws, court cases, and comparing different system, the paper aims to show how India’s cyber law has moved from being focused on following rules being more about protecting people’s rights.
