Conceptual Metaphors in Novel Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo: Cognitive Semantic

Abstract	This research aims to describe metaphorical expressions with discussion specifically on the types of metaphors and image schemes in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. This research was conducted using descriptive methods and the analysis process using studies cognitive semantics. The theory used to analyze the data is the cognitive semantic theory regarding types of metaphor according to Lakoff and Johnson (2013) and the theory regarding image schemas according to Cruse and Croft (2004). The results of this research found three types of conceptual metaphors, namely structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and ontological metaphors. Of the three types of metaphor that have been found, there are six types of image schemes, namely the identity scheme of the matching type, the force of the restraint type, the unity of the link type, the scale of the path type, the unity of the splitting type, the existence of the process type .
