| Abstract | Personality traits are enduring patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that distinguish individuals from one another. These traits reveal a person’s typical response to situations and the way he/ she interact with others. These traits are relatively stable over time but can be shaped by life experiences and environments. Traits such as extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and emotional stability are often studied to understand human personality. HEXACO- 60 Scale (Ashton & Lee, 2009) added another dimension of Honesty-Humility measuring sincerity, fairness and modesty to the Big Five model of personality (Costa and McCrae, 1987), which lacked in emphasizing the ethical and moral tendencies. Also the dimensions of HEXACO redefined some of the traits proposed in the Big five model. With this perspective in mind, the researchers opted for personality dimension of ‘Honesty-Humility’ and ‘Extraversion’ from HEXACO- 60 scale to study how they may differ in students born by normal delivery and Caesarean section. A purposive sample of 100 students (50 normal born and 50 Caesarean born) were administered the two dimension of HEXACO- 60 Scale (Ashton & Lee, 2009). After the assumptions were met, two- way ANOVA was calculated. The results indicate that gender alone does not significantly influence Honesty-Humility or Extraversion. However, mode of childbirth (normal vs. caesarean) shows a significant effect on both traits. Additionally, there is a significant interaction between childbirth mode and gender in relation to Honesty-Humility and Extraversion. The exploratory nature of the present study has great implications for all to be sensitive towards the behavioral, social, emotional and ethical development of children and guide them accordingly. |
