Abstract Medication errors represent a significant threat to patient safety, contributing to adverse drug events, increased healthcare costs, and diminished public trust. Despite the implementation of various traditional error prevention strategies, the problem persists. This research paper explores the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms in mitigating medication errors across all stages of the medication process – prescribing, transcribing, dispensing, and administration. By leveraging capabilities such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, and advanced clinical decision support, AI offers unprecedented opportunities to identify, prevent, and learn from errors. This paper details specific AI applications, examines the challenges associated with their implementation, and highlights recent research advancements and future directions, underscoring AI's role as an indispensable tool in fostering a safer and more efficient healthcare environment.
