Author(s) Dr. Sandeep Kaur

Abstract Teachers today are recognized as multifaceted professionals who function not only as educators but also as mentors, leaders, counselors, and digital facilitators. This paper presents a systematic review of literature examining the evolving roles and challenges of teachers in contemporary education. Following PRISMA guidelines, 150 studies published between 2010 and 2024 were analyzed across diverse contexts. The review highlights four key dimensions of the teacher’s role: pedagogical, psychosocial, technological, and leadership. Findings reveal that teachers face challenges such as workload overload, lack of institutional support, and digital adaptation, yet they remain central to promoting student well-being and educational innovation. Policy implications emphasize the need for continuous professional development, emotional well-being programs, and digital literacy training. This review contributes to the ongoing discourse on teacher empowerment, offering evidence-based insights for educators, researchers, and policymakers.
