Listening to the Caged Bird: Life Lessons through Maya Angelou’s Voice

Abstract This paper examines the life lessons of Maya Angelou’s autobiographies to discover the resilience, self-discovery, and the transformative power of voice. It also explores Maya Angelou’s personal struggles including, childhood trauma, racism, poverty, and the search for love. It also highlights how she transformed suffering into strength and creativity. By analysing Maya Angelou’s autobiographies, this paper clearly captures the life lessons, including resistance during struggles, patience, and self-awareness in times of challenges. Maya Angelou’s autobiographies reflect her life journey and mirror her transformation from silence to an expressive personality. Her works motivate others to find meaning amidst struggles and remind them that even the worst parts of reality can change into hope and inspiration.
