| Abstract | Plastics are synthetic polymers used in daily human life. The demand for plastics is due to its lighter weight, durability and cost effectiveness. They are hazardous to the environment as they are not decomposable. The indecomposable plastics in the environment causes the envi-ronmental pollutions. So, researchers are finding an alternative material for replacing the use of plastics. Bio based plastics are polymers of biological origin derived either from microbes or plant sources. These plastics are environment friendly, biodegradable, and safe. Plant based bio plastics are made from renewable resources such as cassava, corn, potatoes etc. This re-view highlights on bioplastics derived from plant sources. |
