Abstract Diabetes mellitus is a worldwide health problem with rising morbidity and mortality. Even with improved treatment, most patients are unable to gain optimal glycemic control because of nonadherence, inadequate self-care, and insufficient disease awareness. Organized patient education programs can enhance the management of diabetes by raising awareness, promoting lifestyle changes, and improving treatment adherence.
Keywords Diabetes mellitus, patient education, randomized controlled trial, random blood glucose (RBS), glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c).
