Abstract Emotion development is an important aspect of a student’s development. Teachers are the pioneers of students’ emotional development in the classroom situation. In this situation, teachers' emotional processes depend on their emotional control and maturity, which are two key components of Emotional Intelligence. Here, teachers’ emotional intelligence means understanding and synthesising the students’ emotions and behaving accordingly. Self-awareness, empathy, self-motivation, emotional stability, managing relationships, Integrity, self-development, value orientation, commitment, and altruistic behaviour are the characteristics of secondary teachers toward their students, which are mentioned here. But the question was, is there any difference in the components of teachers’ emotional intelligence? To search for questions, 421 secondary school teachers from 84 government-aided and sponsored schools in West Bengal were selected.
