TEACHING COMPETENCY IN RELATION TO BURNOUT OF HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

| Abstract | Teachers plays important role in formal education. Teachers are also being as facilitator, guide, counselor, etc. Teaching competency measured through some teaching activity of the teacher. Most of the educational systems in the world conduct the teaching competitive examination all over world. professionally suited teachers only elected as a teacher through this kind of examination. Burnout and stress were closely connected with psychological disorders. If these two psychological factors occur in the teachers it may be affect the teaching competency of the teachers. Teaching competency and teaching skills important one for efficient teachers. A research study was conducted to know the Teaching Competency in Relation to burnout of High School Teachers for total population. Normative survey method was adopted and a sample of 212 teachers drawn from 35 schools belonging to Government, Government-aided and Self-finance schools in Chennai district was selected following the random sampling technique. Teaching competency rating scale (TCRS) by S. Sathiyagororakam (2006) and Burnout Inventory (BI – MK) Karuna Shankar Mishra (2005) were used. The findings revealed that there are the different levels (Always, Often, Sometimes, And Rarely, Newer, Many times, Seldom) of High School Teachers in teaching competency in relation to burnout for total population. It is observed with the present finding that the level of Teaching Competency in relation to burnout of the High School Teachers is Moderate. |
