Ethics of AI in Everyday Applications

Abstract A wide variety of AI-powered products and services, including personal digital assistants, health monitoring systems, online retail recommendation engines, automated employment platforms, and educational resources, have quickly become standard fare. The ease, efficiency, and customization brought about by modern technologies are not without their ethical issues, which impact both individuals' rights and society's overall welfare. Privacy, prejudice, openness, responsibility, and trust are some of the ethical concerns raised by AI in practical settings that this article seeks to address. We used a mixed-method study strategy that included 200 survey takers, 20 in-depth interviews with a trained interviewer, and case studies of AI applications in healthcare, academia, and business. Users are worried about data exploitation (78%), algorithmic bias (65%), and the lack of transparency in AI choices (only 40% trust AI-driven results without human monitoring). Various interviewees voiced concerns about monitoring, called for greater responsibility, and favored a hybrid approach involving humans and AI over complete automation. Case studies showed that there were both good and bad results, with the former including educational personalization and the latter included deceptive advertising and exclusionary impacts. It is essential to handle AI ethically, the report says, even though it has revolutionary benefits. Achieving a balance between innovation and accountability requires robust regulatory frameworks, open practices, and public awareness.
