| Abstract | A nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test also called a nerve conduction study (NCS) measures how fast an electrical impulse moves through our nerve. NCV can identify nerve damage. During the test, your nerve is stimulated, usually with electrode patches attached to your skin. A nerve conduction study(NCS)is a diagnostic test that evaluates the function of your peripheral nerves. An NCS can help detect the presence and extent of peripheral nerve damage. The peripheral nerves are the nerves that lie outside of our brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). |
