| Abstract | This research paper examines the multifaceted role of tourism within Tamil Nadu’s cultural economy, highlighting its substantial contribution to economic growth, employment generation, and cultural heritage preservation. Tamil Nadu, with its rich temple towns, heritage sites, hill stations, vibrant festivals, classical arts, and unique cuisine, attracts millions of domestic and international tourists annually. The study explores the economic impacts of temple and heritage tourism, the emerging importance of eco-tourism and rural tourism, and the effectiveness of government policy frameworks aimed at sustainable tourism development. Key challenges such as infrastructure deficiencies, taxation complexities, and seasonality are also analyzed to identify strategic interventions. The findings underscore the importance of integrated policies fostering sustainable growth while safeguarding cultural assets, recommending investment in infrastructure, community participation, public-private partnerships, and skill development to enhance the sector’s resilience and inclusivity. |
