| Abstract | The introduction of the Four-Year Integrated Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a paradigm shift in Indian teacher education. This study investigates teacher trainees’ perceptions of the programme and evaluates its implications from the perspective of Strategic Human Resource Development (SHRD) in higher education. Using a mixed-methods approach with a sample of 600 trainees from diverse institutions, the study found that while the ITEP fosters stronger pedagogical skills, curriculum integration, and professional identity formation, challenges persist in areas such as institutional readiness, resource allocation, and faculty training. The findings emphasize the importance of aligning teacher education reforms with SHRD strategies to strengthen India’s higher education system. |
