Abstract The present study was conducted to assess the Effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs among antenatal mothers attending outpatient departments in selected hospitals, Perinthalmanna. The objectives of the study was to assess the level of knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs among antenatal mothers, evaluate the Effectiveness of a structured teaching program on knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs among antenatal mothers, and find the association between pre-test knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs among antenatal mothers and their selected socio-personal variables. The investigator adopts a quantitative approach, and the study design is a one-group pre-test post-test design. A sample of 100 antenatal mothers was selected using a non-probability convenience sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to assess both knowledge and socio-personal data. The investigator had chosen two hospitals (MES Medical College Hospital and Perinthalmanna Nursing Home) in Perinthalmanna. A pre-test was conducted, and interventions (a structured teaching program) were implemented. The post-test was conducted after 1 week. The results showed that among the 100 study subjects who participated in the study 93% of study participants had average knowledge, 6% had poor knowledge, and 1% had good knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs in pre-test and after a structured teaching program 80% had good knowledge and 20% had average knowledge regarding neonatal danger signs in post-test. Pre-test knowledge had a significant association with age and area of residence at the p < 0.05 level. The study concluded that a structured teaching program was effective in improving knowledge of neonatal danger signs among antenatal mothers. Hence, the study findings emphasize the increasing responsibility of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing various educational strategies to enhance the public's knowledge of neonatal danger signs and to prevent further complications at the earliest opportunity.
