Women’s Locus of Control and Choice of Interpersonal Conflict Resolution Approaches in Non-Romantic Relationships

Abstract This study explores women’s locus of control (LoC) and conflict resolution styles in non-romantic relationships, using Rotter’s (1966) and Thomas-Kilmann’s (1974) frameworks. A mixed-methods design with 20 women (aged 31–61) showed a preference for collaborating (M = 24.05), with no significant LoC-style correlations. Qualitative findings suggest internal LoC drives proactive strategies while external LoC fosters passivity.
