Darjeeling: A History of Oppression

Abstract This literature review is a chronological timeline of exploitation and oppression carried out in Darjeeling by various governmental institutions. It traces its history right from the era of the Planters and British Colonialism of the 19th Century, to the current West Bengal government of the 21st Century. It depicts the kinds of exploitation faced by the denizens of Darjeeling in various spheres; social, economic, political, ethnic and linguistic.
