| Abstract | This paper compares loan-taking procedures between a nationalised bank and a Kerala Cooperative Society, highlighting differences in documentation, approval formalities, credit appraisal, and customer experience, while drawing governance lessons from the Karuvanoor Service Cooperative Bank crisis. The study suggests that combining the procedural discipline and digital transparency of nationalised banks with the accessibility and community reach of cooperatives could create a more inclusive and robust credit system. |
