| Abstract | Deoris are one of the prominent tribes of Assam. The Deories are a tribal people of Assam and have made invaluable contributions to Assamese culture since ancient times. They are undoubtedly rich because of their material culture. It also defines their identity as a tribal community. Therefore, this paper explores the material culture of the Deori community of Assam. It examines how everyday objects, handicrafts, textiles, ritual implements and agricultural tools embody the community’s worldview, social organization and cultural continuity. By analyzing household artifacts, ritual items and economic craft. The paper situates Deori material culture within the wider Assamese cultural landscape. It argues that material culture not only reflects the ecological adaptation of the community but also serves as a key marker of ethnic identity, particularly in the context of modernization and cultural change. |
