Analysis on Norway’s economy and how it became the EV capital of the world

Author(s) Ms. Ann Elizabeth Bejoy
Country India
Abstract Norway has, without any doubt, set itself up as an undisputed global leader in electric vehicle (EV) adoption, Norway was crowned as the "EV capital of the world." In 2024, 88.9 percent of newly sold cars in Norway were EVs, and nearly a quarter of Norway's total number of road vehicles are electric, making Norway a global model for other countries when it comes to clean transportation. This research paper explores the policies, infrastructure, and mindset culture that have driven Norway to electric transport at top speed. It also briefly talks of the challenge of sustaining this revolution, such as lost tax revenues and the environmental cost of producing batteries, before providing solutions to sustain it in the long term.
