Investigating the Impact of Procurement and Logistics Supply Chains on Businesses in Emerging Markets

Author(s) Mr. Joseph Ansah
Country Ghana
Abstract The research is a doctorate thesis which has the aim of providing befitting outcome on the importance of logistics, procurement and supply chain to global emerging markets. The sparsely nature of emerging markets meant that the researcher chose a case study approach to obtain the desired knowledge the research sought to obtain as the case study approach enabled the researcher to concentrate its study on emerging economies in Africa and specifically. The thesis again used the questionnaire approach and distributed questionnaires to business which understood the concept of supply chain and were already practicing procurement and logistics through effective supply chain activities as core functions of their daily occupational assignments such as Ghana ports and Harbor's Authority (GHPA), Limestone processing Company, Cement Producing Companies and Logistics providers which incidentally were all into procurement and supply activities. The researcher also used the recommended research format both for the submission of my thesis and the current submitted paper I am submitting for possible publication. Additionally, the paper sought to answer the question of relatedness of logistics and procurement as twin functions for emerging economies as the efficient management of the two functions can have the effect of leveraging activities of emerging businesses and be effective drivers for emerging businesses' profitability and market competitiveness.
