The Presence and the Absence of the Body of Femme Fatales: A Comparative Analysis of the Bodies of John Keats’ Femme Fatales and The Legend of Kalliyankattu Neeli

Abstract This research paper attempts to study the parallels between the two literary constructs, the Indian and the western concepts of femme fatales. The paper specifically analyses and compares the femme fatales employed by the romantic poet John Keats in this poems La Belle Dame sans Merci, Lamia and The Eve of St. Agnes with the Kerala folk lore character Kalliyangattu Neeli.
