| Abstract | The problem of gender inequality in sports leadership is still observed in different parts of the world, where women are always poorly represented in decision-making. The present research assesses and visualizes the extent of female representation in the leadership sector of the Albanian sports industry, offering a detailed, data-driven overview of the situation. Data from national federations, top-tier sports clubs, and government official registries was used to gather information in 2025, which included the positions of the president, board, directors, and head coach. The proportion of women in sports disciplines was calculated with the use of descriptive statistics, and the charts and tables identified differences by sport and role type. Findings have shown that women are under-represented in leadership positions both on the whole and in particular in football and basketball, but have a relatively higher presence in volleyball and athletics. These results support the existence of gender inequality in sports governance in Albania and emphasize the necessity to consider specific policies, mentorship, and open recruitment as the means of ensuring equal participation at the decision-making tiers. |
