| Abstract | The solid-state kinetics of thermal decomposition of Cu(II) complexes with 5-anilino-1,2,3,4-thiatriazole have been investigated using thermogravimetric (TG) analysis under non-isothermal conditions. The complex exhibits a single-step decomposition pattern, indicating the formation of a stable intermediate during thermal degradation. Kinetic parameters such as the order of reaction, activation energy, frequency factor, and entropy of activation were evaluated using the graphical methods of Freeman and Carroll and Doyle’s method as modified by Zsákó based on non-isothermal thermogravimetric (TG) data. The complex decomposes in a regular manner, and the first stage of decomposition was selected for the evaluation of kinetic parameters. The results suggest that the decomposition process follows first-order kinetics, and the relatively high activation energy reflects the thermal stability of the complex. The thermodynamic parameters support a non-spontaneous and endothermic nature of decomposition. |
