| Abstract | Marma Chikitsa represents an often-overlooked aspect of Ayurveda. While ancient texts, including the Vedas, primarily regarded marma points as critical areas associated with fatal injuries, their significance extends beyond mere physical vulnerability. Ayurvedic scholars have identified 107 marma points, each linked to specific anatomical locations and surrounding structures. These points are vital for the flow of Prana, or life force, which influences both physical and mental well-being. When the flow of Prana is obstructed, it can disrupt physiological balance and contribute to disease development. Marma points can be stimulated through various techniques, promoting the removal of blockages and enhancing the flow of Prana, thereby fostering a state of holistic health—body, mind, and spirit. In contemporary settings, Marma Chikitsa offers a natural, non-invasive, and effective healing approach, establishing itself as a new frontier in non- pharmacological treatments within Ayurveda.Understanding Marma and its therapeutic applications is essential for public health, as the well-being of individuals reflects the overall welfare of society. Historical anecdotes illustrate the significance of marma points: Ravana's death resulted from an arrow to his umbilicus, while Lord Krishna succumbed to an injury on his foot, and Bhisma Pitamaha endured for months despite numerous arrow wounds, all underscoring the protective nature of vital marma points. |
