| Abstract | This study examines the critical factors influencing Sustainable Tourism Development (STD) at waterfall destinations, a key component of the Lao PDR's ecotourism strategy, focusing specifically on Champasak Province. Utilizing a quantitative, cross-sectional survey approach with a multi-stakeholder sample from the local community, private sector, and public sector, this research investigates the interrelationships among Waterfall Tourism Development (WTD), Tourism Business Adaptation (TBA), and Management and Tourism Development (MTD). The analysis employs Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to validate the measurement scales, followed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the hypothesized structural model. CFA results confirmed an excellent model fit and strong psychometric properties across all constructs (/df = 2.237; CFI = 0.966; RMSEA = 0.070), with all factor loadings exceeding . The findings are expected to demonstrate that robust WTD and effective MTD are critical antecedents to TBA, which, along with MTD, significantly and positively impacts STD. By providing a validated, context-specific model, this research contributes to the literature by moving beyond conceptual discussions of sustainability to offer tangible, evidence-based policy implications for managing natural attractions, promoting green growth, and ensuring long-term environmental stewardship in the region. |
